Wow! I blinked, and now it's March 2017! Isn't March great? I mean, I could do without the Lake Effect winds, -20C temps and snow up to my eyeballs; but March means we are so close to Spring. Soon I will be able to put away the snow suits, the winter boots, the shovels and ice scrapers. My entrance won't be covered in slush and soggy mitts. I can once again open my windows and let in the fresh air! Ahhhh... Spring is so close I can almost feel it ❤️. But, do you know what else is so great about March? It means we are also celebrating International Crochet Month, or NatCroMo!
I like to think that I have a pretty sweet job. I work from home in my pjs, set my own hours, and let my creativity be my guide. Of course, the drawbacks would be never quite getting away from work, like, ever. Oh, and the unpredictable pay. And maybe even the lack of face to face contact with other grownups, unless you count the cashiers at the grocery store. I try to get in as much adult conversation as I can while they ring up my order. Just slightly embarrassing. However, the good always outweighs the bad when it comes to this Dream Career, and it never hurts when some extra perks come along that sweeten the pot! Enter, Chetnanigans. Sean and Holly O'Brien are the Masterminds behind the name, and with Sean's love of wood working, and Holly's passion for crochet, they are looking to fill a void in the under-serviced Crochet and Knit market. Chetnanigans offers...
Here we go! My first What She Said Wednesday blog post! Yesterday in my FB Page Live Video, I talked about how to choose colors that go together. Here is a little more of a detailed post with the samples I shared yesterday...
Do you follow along on my Facebook Page? They have this new feature over there where people can post LIVE videos! I mean, what's not to like? You see the Actors, Athletes, Reality Stars, and even Crochet Designers, like myself, flub our way through a live broadcast, trying not to look at our own faces instead of the camera, wondering if there is anything in our teeth and trying not to say "Ummm...." too much. No place to hide. No retakes. Scary stuff. Anyhoo! I digress. The whole point is to say that I started, it isn't too awful, and it keeps me on track! If you watched the third video I posted, you know that I mentioned a new series of weekly Events, mostly on my FB page. Feel free to follow along if you like a bit of scheduled variety in your life. I know, I like to live life on the edge ;)
Monday - Make It With... Monday! Here I will chat with you about an item; yarn, crochet tool, pattern, or Designer, that will help us create Crochet Amazingness! It will be something that I researched or used myself, or something that I cannot wait to try!
Tuesday - Tips & Tricks Tuesday! Pretty self-explanatory. I will be doing a live video (gulp!) on my Facebook Page usually around 1pm EST where you can watch me make a fool out of myself, ahem, help you with a question that you may have about crochet! If you miss it live, it will be there for you to watch whenever you have time. Archived forever. Sigh.
Wednesday - What She Said... Wednesday! Blog Post Day!! You will find a new post right here! It will probably be about something we chatted about on Monday or Tuesday. A yarn review, a tutorial, or maybe even more info about a new pattern. Squeal!!!
Thursday - #TBT, or, Throw Back Thursday! Check my FB page, or Instagram (@bysincerelypam) to see which pattern will get a shoutout and be available for 24 hrs on Ravelry for a DEEP discount! You won't want to miss that!
Friday - Freebie Friday! Once again, on my Facebook Page I will do a random giveaway. Free patterns, maybe some yarn, a tool we chatted about on Monday.... You will have to come and see ;)
Well, I really think you will enjoy what we chat about! I'm looking forward to seeing you around and getting to know you better :)

And secondly, I have been itching to design something like this for a LONG time! Well, the stars have aligned and everything seems to have worked out! First a little about the yarn....

I purchased some beautiful Merino Superwash in this lovely lilac color at my Local Yarn Store. As soon as I put hook to yarn, this gorgeous Bunny Bonnet began to take shape! I love the texture of the Bonnet as well as the little bunnies that play along the Brim! I think the timing is just perfect with the first day of Spring here and Easter only a week away!

I always enjoy getting to try yarns that I have never tried before. Especially ones that aren't local to me. It really is one of my favorite parts of being in the Design Wars family! However, there is something to be said about the tried and true. Yarn that you always have on hand. An essential part of your stash. Your "go-to". For me, that has to be Lion Brand Yarns Wool-Ease Thick and Quick. If I am picturing a design that requires a nice and chunky yarn, this is always what I gravitate to first! Let me tell you why...
I have a couple designs that feature a zipper and one of the comments that I get the most is "I can't sew, so I probably can't do this.". Well, I'm here to tell you that this is one of the EASIEST ways to add something special to your crocheted pieces and you really don't need any special skill to do it! If you can weave in ends, you can sew on a zipper!
How to create a LTC, or Linked Treble (Triple) Crochet:
Photo 1: Ch3, pick up a loop in the second chain from hook, pick up another loop in third chain from loop, pick up another loop in the same as beginning ch3 (4 loops on hook).
Photo 2: Yarn over, draw through 2 loops (3 loops on hook).
Photo 3: Yarn over, draw through 2 loops (2 loops on hook).
Photo 4: Yarn over, draw through last 2 loops (1 loop on hook). First LTC made.
Photo 5: Put hook through first horizontal bar in previous LTC, draw up a loop (2 loops on hook), put hook through second horizontal bar in previous LTC, draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), draw up a loop in next stitch (4 loops on hook).
Photo 6: Complete LTC as in steps 2-4.
