A few years back I had written a pattern for my favorite little Four-Legged Fur Baby, Eleanor Rigby. My husband and I adopted her almost 10 years ago. Although she may look like a dog, we feel that she may be a bit confused. She basks in the sun. Lays on the back of the couch. And is afraid of water. She couldn’t care less about thunder, hairdryers, or being outside. She won’t “stay”, “speak”, “lay down” or “come” when called. She refuses to do her business if it’s raining, snowing, or the grass is long enough to tickle her belly when she squats. Her best friend in the entire world was a cat named Elvis. She isn’t a dog. She’s a Rigby. So, 4 years ago, for Rigby’s 6th birthday, I wrote a pattern just for her!
This scarf is written in Dog sizes XS-XL and can easily be adapted to fit humans too!

I wrote this pattern for my oldest baby girl. She just happens to be of the furry, four-legged variety. I have yet to make her a single handmade item. That all changes right here! This scarf is easily adaptable to fit any sized dog and is equally adorable on a person.
Materials
Yarn: 30-150 yds of WW #4 Yarn. I used Red Heart Unforgettable.
*The Adult size Triangle Scarf shown above, 2 skeins of Unforgettable was used*
Hook: H (5mm) hook.
5/8” button.
Sizing
Gauge: First 3 Rows of Pattern = 2” x 2”
Size Circumference Length
XS Dog 8-11” 5”
Small Dog 11-14” 6.5”
Med Dog 14-17” 8”
Large Dog 17-22” 9.5”
XL Dog 22-26” 11”
Pattern Key
ch: chain
st(s): stitch(es)
slst: slip stitch
sk: skip
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
Experience Level: Easy
Special Pattern Notes: If making this for a Person, use their Head Circumference to decide on the size to make using the Chart above. For example, my Head Circumference is 21” so I would make a Scarf for a Large Dog. Yep, I feel kinda silly writing that.

Finishing Instructions:
Please Note, I use a ch15 for the closing strap to the Scarf. This will add approximately 4” to the circumference of your Dog’s Scarf. Feel free to make this chain as long or as short as you need to for the correct length. The Triangle Scarf did not use a closing strap. Skip to Step 2.
The Scarf should fit comfortably around your Dog’s neck as to not cause any discomfort.
1: Ch1 (does NOT count as sc), turn, sc in each st and ch space across, ch15, sc in 3rd from hook (button hole made) and across, sc around entire Scarf placing 3 sc in each corner, slst to first sc to join.
2: Ch1, sc in each st around placing 3sc in each corner, and 5sc in the ch3 space for the button hole, slst to first sc to join.
Attach button on the Front of the Scarf on the opposite end from the button hole.
