Special Pattern Notes
This Hat is worked in the Round from the bottom up.
When choosing colors for your Hat, using the photo above as a guide, Color A will be Cupcake, Color B will be Black.
This entire pattern is worked in the BLO (back loops only) except where marked with an X on the chart. Those 4 stitches are worked in both loops to prevent the words from distorting (see Page 6 for an example). Joining with a slst are always worked into both loops.
Always work the first st of each Round in the same as the ch1. Always join in the first st of the Round.

BAND
Using the Main Color and the 4.5mm hook:
1: Ch9, sc in 2nd chain and across. (8 sc)
2: Ch1, turn, working in the BLO, sc across. (8 sc)
Repeat 2 until you have a total of (63, 67, 70) rows.
3: Lining up Row 1 with the Row just completed, ch1, sc across through the Back Loop of the row closest to you, to the Front Loop of the Row behind it. (8 sc)
Turn your work inside out. Band Complete. This is now the Right Side and you are now working in the Round.
BODY
Switching to 6mm hook:
4: Ch1, sc in each end row around, join to first sc. (64, 68, 71 sc now and throughout)
5-6: Ch1, BLO sc around, join.
TEXT PATTERN
The remainder of the Hat is worked entirely in the BLO except where marked with an X on the chart above. Those stitches are worked in both loops.
When working the different colors of the Hat, the instructions will refer to them only as (A) or (B) before the number of sts you need to work in that particular color. For example, A2, B1, means to sc 2 sts in color A, then sc 1 st in color B. You may carry the colors behind one another when working the color changes, or cut the yarn at each color change and weave in ends. This is personal preference depending on how it affects tension. If color changes are pulled too tightly, the Hat will pucker. See graph above for color chart. See THIS TUTORIAL for more info.
***If you crochet left-handed, work the chart from left to right.***
